Prerequisite: No prerequisites are required for this course, however, attention to detail and good craftsmanship is a plus.



Course Description:
This is an intensive hands-on course where students will be introduced to the traditions and methods of the handmade book, as well as the expressive possibilities available with bookworks. Students will learn to combine text, image and use diverse structural techniques in the creation of original bookworks. Exploration with materials is encouraged and students will be able to combine other media (photography, screenprinting, painting, etc.) they are familiar with in their class projects.

Patricia Silva received a BFA in Art History/Studio Arts from the Massachusetts College of Art in Boston and a MFA in Book Arts/Printmaking from the University of the Arts in Philadelphia. She has also studied at the Centro del Bel Libro in Ascona, Switzerland.
