Course Description: The goal of this class is to broaden students' understanding of digital media through slide presentations, critical and theoretical readings, CD-ROM viewing, gallery visits, and class discussions. Using Adobe Photoshop, students cover advanced image manipulation techniques including layers, levels, curves, paths, masks and channels, and filters and models. Assignments are given in this class, but emphasis is placed on project development using digital tools. Supplementary programs such as Fractal Design Painter and Adobe Illustrator are introduced as complementary creative tools. The class helps students strengthen and expand their competence and knowledge of digital techniques, research, verbal, and conceptualization skills within realm of digital imaging.
