Course Description: 
This course is designed to introduce students to the creation of 3D forms and an understanding of space. Through an interpretive exploration of the elements of sculpture students are challenged to engage the history of sculpture while honing their technical rendering skills. Techniques in clay, wood and steel are all introduced to the students through a series of exercises and experiments. Conceptual investigation and the quest for new approaches to traditional materials are integral to this course.

SRISA Faculty
Justin Randolph Thompson is a sculptor and new media artist born in Peekskill, NY. In 2001 he received his BFA from the University of Tennessee and in 2003 his MFA from American University.
Living between Italy and the US since 2001, he has exhibited internationally and participated in numerous residencies in the US and in Europe.
