Booking your tickets

It is the responsibility of each student to make his/her own travel arrangements. You may wish to have a travel agent help you with your travel plans. There are many different options for purchasing your tickets and it is important to choose the one which suits your needs best. Below are a few options that would be helpful to explore.

We recommend flying directly into the Florence airport for the convenience factor, although international flights arriving into major cities such as Rome and Milan are usually less expensive. Make sure to calculate supplemental transportation to Florence if choosing to fly into an alternative airport. After you calculate the expenses of additional trains, buses and cabs you may find that it makes your trip less complicated and and more efficient to fly directly into Florence. Also be sure to include Pisa and Bologna airports in your searches as they also tend to have good flights and are just an hour or so from Florence.

STA travel is a very useful resource as they offer many other travel services aside from the role of travel agent. The purchase of an International Student Identity Card provides discounts on sites, hotels and restaurants as well as budget airfares. The card also offers travel insurance options and emergency service hotlines. Visit their website to find the retail office closest to you:

Online flight agencies are a convenient and often cheapest way of purchasing airline tickets.
