Daria Filardo completed her Laurea with Honors in Contemporary Art History at the Università degli Studi di Firenze in 1997. Her thesis was on the sculpture of Fausto Melotti. In 2000 she completed her Post-Graduate Specialization in the History of Art at the Università di Pisa with a thesis on new aesthetic codes in contemporary Italian photography.

Since 1999, she has curated numerous exhibitions throughout Italy. Her essays on contemporary art have appeared in publications such as Flash Art, Arte e Critica, and in catalogues of Italian and European institutions focusing on the artwork of a number of Italian artists.
