OBTAINING A VISA
If you are enrolled in a SRISA program with duration less that 90 days you do not need to apply for a student visa. You will only need a passport valid at least 3 months beyond the date you plan to leave Italy.
If you are enrolled in a semester long program at SRISA you will need to obtain a student visa for Italy. You will need to contact the Italian Consulate General that serves your jurisdiction. Every consulate has specific rules and regulations regarding their visas, you MUST contact your specified consulate. For example, if you live in New Hampshire do not gather your materials from the Consulate General of Miami's list, go to the Italian Consulate General of Boston. The Consulates are very strict and extremely bureaucratic.
MAKE SURE YOU HAVE EVERYTHING REQUESTED PLUS PHOTOCOPIES.
BASIC VISA REQUIREMENTS
-Student visa application form
-Recent passport-style photo
-Passport valid at least 3 months after visa expiry date
-Proof of residence in the jurisdiction of consulate (ID, Driver's License)
-Proof of enrollment in course of study
-Affidavit of Support
-Affidavit of Health Insurance

PASSPORT REQUIREMENTS
Your passport must be valid at least 3 months beyond the date you plan to leave Italy.
PROCESSING TIME
The average processing time for visas is 7 to 21 days. Rush processing is not possible.
Applications cannot be accepted if presented earlier than 90 calendar days from the departure date.
MINOR APPLICANTS
For minor applicants, the following certification is needed:
Authorization to travel signed by both parents. Parents can either appear in person in front of the VISA Attache' or send a notarized consent.
Birth certificate, original or a notarized copy;
Notarized copies of both parents' picture I.D.
All foreign documents MUST be translated into English and the translations legalized by the competent Consulate.
