Who can propose a program?
More than 50% of programs hosted at SRISA are faculty-led. In most cases the relationship with SRISA begins with the faculty that propose a program to their study abroad office. Most of these relationships continue year after year though faculty may choose to pass along the spot to another faculty member.
Why SRISA?
Whether you are faculty or a study abroad administrator you will find that choosing to host your program at SRISA can make the study abroad process much easier without giving up the crucial control over curriculum and program administration. SRISA has specialized in customized programs over the last 30 years hosting over 50 different programs and universities and bringing over 100 visiting faculty to teach. Most say that collaborating with SRISA made bringing students over easier allowing faculty to focus on teaching.
How are most programs structured?
Over the course of the summer SRISA hosts numerous programs and agencies. Each program is unique, however there are a number of things that remain the same for most programs.
Summer Programs:
Most summer programs run for one month along the same dates of the SRISA programs. Most run May, June and/or July.
The dates are pre-established by SRISA so that all visiting programs arrive and depart on the same days. This gives the maximum efficiency for the staff and the opportunity for visiting faculty and students to cross over with other students and faculty from other programs.
SRISA offers a cultural program that includes one field trip and numerous walking tours. This is included in the package for each program.
In addition programs can choose to have their students participate in SRISA field trips or to ask for assistance in the organization of private field trips for students and faculty.
SRISA communicates directly with staff and faculty regarding supplies, museum cards, museum appointments and housing prior to arrival.
Semester Programs:
All semester programs should follow the SRISA calendar, however, exceptions can be made.
SRISA can provide a mixture of SRISA courses and Faculty –led courses.
