Each
semester and summer SRISA organizes numerous events and
activities. These are excellent opportunities for
students to socialize and meet other students and local
Italians that frequently join these events as guests.
Gallery
Exhibitions:
Every month or so SRISA organizes gallery exhibitions
for nationally and internationally recognized
artists. Many artists give a talk to
students about their work and some may ask student
participation in the installation of the work.
Example:
Fall 2009 students helped Marco Raparelli and local
Curator Lorenzo Bruni install the exhibition
“Everything will be wonderful someday.” Students
helped the artist paint his wall drawing and were able
to observe and participate in the entire process
involved in opening a show.
Cultural
Program:
During the summer and semesters SRISA organizes
a
cultural program.
Studio
Art Forum:
Once a week during semesters studio art students are
brought together as a group to attend local
exhibitions, lectures, artist studios and
presentations. Students are asked to make
presentations and discuss the exhibitions
visited.
Thanksgiving
Dinner:
Every Fall SRISA organizes a pot-luck Thanksgiving
dinner on campus. All the students, and
their families if they are visiting, are
invited. The event is open and students
often bring their friends from other programs that may
not be having a dinner. Each student
prepares a favorite dish from home and the school
prepares turkey for everyone. The event is a
favorite among our Italian friends as it is our
opportunity to share a bit of American tradition with
our fellow Italians.
Halloween
& Carnival Party:
Every
semester SRISA organizes a costume
party. The event is great fun and is a
wonderful opportunity for students to let loose and
express their artistic flair in a friendly
environment. Students often create elaborate
costumes and SRISA staff organizes costume prizes
as well as a buffet of food to accompany the music and
merriment.
In addition SRISA organizes Field Trips, Internships
and Community Service Projects each semester.
